We have Bilingual Educators! Let us know if any students or chaperones in your class might benefit from activities taught in: Cantonese, Mandarin, or Spanish.
bet36体育在线真的吗By the end of this field trip program, students will be able to:
bet36体育在线真的吗make observations of specimens to make predictions of their roles in the natural world
identify the process of how plants depend on animals for pollination and seed dispersal
construct an explanation for how plants, animals and humans depend on each other for survival
How do plants depend on animals in a tropical rainforest? Students take on the role of rainforest scientists to figure out this interdependent relationship. They will observe real cacao specimens to deconstruct and identify different parts of the plant system. Through a series of activities, students will make predictions of the cacao plant cycle and the significance of rainforest animals for the survival of cacao. Through facilitated discussion, students will begin to see the impact of these interdependent relationships on a significant resource used by people all over the world.
Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs)
LS2.A: Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystemsbet36体育在线真的吗 - Plants depend on animals for pollination or to move their seeds around.
LS4.D: Biodiversity and Humans - There are many different kinds of living things in any area, and they exist in different places on land and in water.
Crosscutting Concepts (CCs)
- Systems and System Models: Student understands objects and organisms can be described in terms of their parts; and systems in the natural and designed world have parts that work together.
Performance Expectation (PEs)*
- 2-LS2-2: Develop a simple model that mimics the function of an animal in dispersing seeds or pollinating plants.
